University of Copenhagen Joins European Health Elite

These will be the keywords when the University of Copenhagen formally becomes part of the strategic alliance 'Health Axis Europe' on Thursday 27 August 2015 at 14.00. The alliance collaborates on sharing resources across Europe and strengthening the competitiveness through healthcare innovation. The University of Copenhagen will become part of the strategic alliance 'Health Axis Europe'. The alliance consists of the biomedical clusters Cambridge (UK), Leuven (Belgium), Maastricht (Netherlands) and Heidelberg (Germany) and works to foster innovation in the healthcare sector and generate growth through knowledge and collaboration. "Like the other Health Axis Europe clusters, Copenhagen represents one of the major biomedical innovation hubs in Europe," says Christian Tidona, Managing Director of the BioRN Network in Heidelberg. "Building on our recent joint success in the initiation of the EIT Health consortium, I am looking forward to many more pan-European projects that significantly contribute to the advancement of health research and innovation in Europe." University of Copenhagen strengthens international profile   Established in 2011, 'Health Axis Europe' works to facilitate and coordinate EU-funded research and development collaboration. In addition, the alliance supports the education of talented researchers and works with investments and venture initiatives across Europe. The alliance is managed and coordinated by the Health Axis Europe Committee, comprised of key individuals from each cluster representing local industry, science, politics, and venture capital. The parties in the alliance are Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the University of Leuven, the BioRN Network in Heidelberg, and the Brightlands Consortium in Maastricht, consisting of the Maastricht University, the Maastricht Health Campus and the Chemelot Campus. The partners agreed on the initiation and coordination of cross-border cooperation in research and development and on the support of start-ups.
